Parramatta Eels refuse bonus request from Dylan Brown's management as contract saga continues

The saga between Dylan Brown and the Eels has entered another chapter after the club's refusal of a request from his management.

The Sydney Morning Herald revealed Brown's management was seeking a financial incentive to remove the first get-out clause in his contract.

Sources speaking to The Herald revealed the Eels weren't willing to agree to the terms around getting rid of the first player option or upgrading his contract.

It comes after his manager, Chris Orr, sent an email to clubs informing them that Brown was available to offers. The five-eighth is contracted until 2031 but has player options starting from next year.

Brown has until round 10 to negotiate with other clubs and can do the same again in two seasons.

Reports have suggested Brown's management is seeking a contract worth $1.2 million a season. He is currently on $900,000.

Orr told Triple M in mid-January that Eels head of football, Mark O'Neill, asked to bring the matter to a close before round 10.

"The option is there for us, and we need to do our due diligence, and that is to explore his options," he said.

Brown was linked to the Roosters in recent weeks but chairman Nick Politis denied those reports to News Corp.
