'It was a big day': Tom Burgess reveals mad dash from son's birth to lining up for Rabbitohs
South Sydney may not have scored a win on Thursday night but Tom Burgess had one of the best days of his life anyway.
The veteran prop almost didn't make it to Accor Stadium for the round 23 clash with Melbourne, which the Storm ended up winning 28-16.
Burgess had been in hospital just hours earlier helping deliver his son into the world.

"It was a big day," a beaming Burgess told Nine after the NRL game.

"We went in this morning... (my wife) Tahlia is amazing, she was awesome.
"It was a bit slow, he was a bit lazy, he came out at 4.04pm and I was a bit touch and go whether I was going to come play or not.
"But she was a legend, she said 'I've done my job now, you go and do yours'.

"I'm going to go back there now... he's a little bundle of joy."
The Burgess boy - who is yet to be named - already has two big sisters.
"Tom whipped on the gloves to help deliver our boy and then went from midwife assistant to football player and turned up in time to run out on the field and play with his team," Tahlia posted to Instagram along with a video of her and the newborn watching the NRL game from a hospital bed.
Burgess will retire from the NRL at the end of this season.
His twin brother George and older brother Sam have already finished their respective NRL careers.
