Manly enforcer Corey Waddell cops two-game suspension as salt added to Sea Eagles wounds

The fallout from Manly's shock loss to the Tigers has continued, with enforcer Corey Waddell offered a two-week suspension for a high shot on Solomon Alaimalo.

Off the back of an error in the 65th minute, Waddell and Taniela Paseka rushed out of the Manly line to put the shot on. In a nasty one-two, Waddell's arm whacked Alaimalo across the face, and then Paseka's shoulder into his head.

Waddell was binned for 10 minutes, but Paseka was allowed to stay on the park.

On Friday morning, Waddell was slapped with a grade two careless high tackle charge, meaning he'll be unavailable until the first week of the finals.

He'll get an extra week if he fights the charge at the judiciary and loses.

Paseka was also hit with a grade one careless high tackle charge for his role in the tackle, although he escaped with only a fine.

Waddell was the third Sea Eagle sent to the bin for the match, following Ethan Bullemore for a professional foul and then Haumole Olakau'atu for a separate high shot on Heath Mason.

Olakau'atu's was particularly painful for the Sea Eagles, given he was binned as Bullemore returned to the field.

Olakau'atu was also charged by the MRC and was lucky to avoid a suspension. He was hit with a grade one careless high tackle charge and fined $3000. 

If he does the unthinkable and fights the charge at the judiciary and loses, he'll miss three matches.

The Sea Eagles raced out to a 16-0 lead in the 24th minute, but then conceded 30 points in the next 34 minutes of play.

They scored two late tries to reduce the deficit to four points, before Samuele Fainu iced the win with a try in the final minute.

The shock loss put a massive dent in the Sea Eagles quest for a top-four finish, and dropped them to seventh on the ladder.

Manly play the Bulldogs next weekend at Accor Stadium, and finish their season at home against the Sharks.

The Tigers have the bye next week, before a round 27 showdown for the wooden spoon against the Eels at Campbelltown.
