Josh Addo-Carr has signed with a new NRL club 18 days after he was sacked by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs over his positive roadside drug test, inking a deal with the Parramatta Eels.

Parramatta confirmed in a statement on Thursday evening that Addo-Carr had agreed to terms on a two-year deal beginning in 2025, which The Sydney Morning Herald had reported would happen in an article published last week.

The agreement includes an option in the Eels' favour for 2026.

Addo-Carr's arrival at the Eels has reunited the 29-year-old with new head coach Jason Ryles, who was an assistant coach at the Storm when Addo-Carr was with Melbourne.

"I've had the privilege of working with Josh before, and I know first hand just how much he brings to a team — his speed is electric, and his ability to break open games is second to none," Ryles said.

"What's even more important is his commitment. Josh is a player who has always been determined to improve and challenge himself, and I'm confident he will make the most of this opportunity with our club."

In September, a week out from the Bulldogs' first finals match in eight years, Addo-Carr tested positive to cocaine in a roadside drug test.

The premiership-winning winger has always maintained he did not knowingly take an illicit drug.

The Bulldogs hit him with a show-cause notice and gave him a chance to explain to the club's board why his contract shouldn't be torn up, but he argued unsuccessfully.

The NRL slapped him with a four-game suspension and a $15,000 fine, while Addo-Carr accepted a $682 fine and a three-month driving suspension from NSW Police.

He has now landed at his fourth NRL club, following stints with Wests Tigers, Melbourne and Canterbury.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity Parramatta and Jason have given me to continue my footy career and I'm ready to repay the faith they've shown in me," Addo-Carr said.

"Coming here is a chance for me to start a new chapter, prove myself and show what I can do for the club and the fans. I can't wait to put on the blue and gold and become a part of this club and the Eels community."

Addo-Carr's career has spanned 179 NRL games, as well as seven appearances for Australia and 15 State of Origin matches with NSW.
