Dragons skipper Ben Hunt remains open to departing the club amid his disappointment at details from his post-season performance review being leaked to the media.

Last month, a report from The Sydney Morning Herald revealed that Hunt was dealt some harsh truths by head coach Shane Flanagan and assistant coach Dean Young during his end-of-season review.

The halfback's defence, kicking and leadership were all called into question as the club's aspirations of a finals berth went up in smoke, according to the publication.

Hunt's future at the Dragons remains up in the air with the veteran off contract at the end of next season and a new deal yet to be struck.

Speaking at a Kangaroos media call in Queensland, Hunt was at a loss to explain how the review details got out.

"I'm not too sure where it's come from. Obviously, someone said something somewhere because there is a fair bit of noise about it," he told 9News.

"It was a bit disappointing that information did get out of there, you know, it's your end-of-season review."

Asked if he was still content to wear the red V jumper despite what had transpired in the final month of the season, Hunt stated that he was but also aired his frustration.

"Oh yeah," he said.

"But I was disappointed with how the season ended and probably most Dragons were. I was pretty upset with a few things that happened and how we finished the season."

With a potential return home to Queensland appearing more likely, the 34-year-old maintained that he is open to finishing his career at a Sunshine State club.

"I've always said I'd be open to it if the opportunity arose," Hunt said.

"Queensland is home. I've had a lot of great times up here [and have] a lot of family up here, so if the opportunity did come up then yeah, I'd never say no."

Hunt is currently preparing with the Kangaroos squad in Brisbane after surviving the mass changes made by national team coach Mal Maninga.

"To know that [Maninga] has made a lot of changes, I'm very grateful and very honoured to get the opportunity again," he said.

The Kangaroos kick off their Pacific Championships campaign against Tonga in Brisbane on Friday.
