The Broncos are looking into whether they can sack Anthony Milford as he faces assault charges, Nine's Emma Lawrence has reported.

Milford was charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of wilful damage, after he was arrested at 2am today following reports of a disturbance in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

While Milford is set to officially leave the Broncos for the Rabbitohs on November 1, Lawrence reported Brisbane could end his contract early to save a significant amount of money.

"Only a month remaining on his contract, but essentially that will cost Milford $100,000," Lawrence said on Sydney's Nine News.

"Now, in terms of the NRL integrity unit, they are looking into it. This does not come under the automatic stand-down policy because the maximum (possible jail term) is under 11 years, but the NRL can still use their discretion if they want to eventually stand him down."

Lawrence also revealed South Sydney's stance on the matter.

"As for his new club, the Bunnies, they've said they're just going to wait to see how it all plays out with the integrity unit," Lawrence said.

"So really there's a lot to play out.

"Not the news we needed just two weeks out from the grand final."
