Latrell Mitchell's South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL switch done, latest reports say

Latrell Mitchell is reportedly set to be unveiled as a South Sydney player on Monday afternoon in a deal worth less than what he was offered by rival NRL clubs.

The 22-year-old representative centre announced on Friday on social media that his time with the Sydney Roosters was over and that he was looking forward to the next chapter "where ever that may be."

That will be at Redfern with multiple media outlets reporting that Mitchell will sign a deal with the Rabbitohs for $600,000 in 2020 with an option, in the club's favour, for a second season at $800,000.

Mitchell's future has been up in air for several weeks despite the dual premiership winner being under contract with the Sydney Roosters until the end of the upcoming campaign.

After recently withdrawing an $800,000 per season contract extension offer, the NRL premiers granted Mitchell leave before the start of their pre-season training and finally agreed to cut the player loose on condition that he pays an outstanding management fee to one of his former managers.

Wests Tigers reportedly offered Mitchell $1 million per season for four years but couldn't finalise a move.

It's understood NRL salary cap auditor Richard Gardham needs to ratify the move before any official announcement can be made.

It remains unclear which position Mitchell will play, although Souths officials have reportedly denied rumours they have verbally agreed to play him at fullback.
