A young NRL fan who was hit square in the face by a Johnathan Thurston conversion has been gifted with a kicking tee from the Cowboys playmaker.

In what’s been described as the “biggest falcon of the year”, Max Hooper got the fright of his life when he copped a ball to the head while sitting on the hill with his family during the Cowboys clash against the Dragons on the weekend.

“We were quite distracted that game with all the extra kids on the hill and they were running through the middle of our rug while we were trying to keep our own small kids together,” his mother Leonie Hooper told the Townsville Bulletin.

“It certainly hasn’t scared him off the footy. He loves the Cowboys and can’t wait for the next game. He says he will just have to catch it next time.”

The clip has nearly clocked up nearly a million views, and word spread to JT about Max’s misadventure.

The champion halfback did his best to make it up to the 5-year-old, personally delivering the youngster a kicking-tee, with the message: “To Max, Sorry for the falcon!”
