They don’t come much more dedicated than Knights fan Sam Lucas.

Sam is currently in the middle of his honeymoon in Fiji - but is cutting short his dream holiday on Sunday to cheer on his beloved Newcastle team in the NRL grand final.

He’s not leaving new bride Sophie totally in the lurch, however - on Monday he’ll be jumping on a jet back to Fiji to resume the celebrations.

“After The Knights won the wooden spoon last year I relented to Sophie’s push to have our wedding this year at the end of September,” Sam told nine.com.au.

“Last Saturday we tied the knot, coming out to the Knights theme, ‘this game is our game, this town is our town’.

“What a wonderful day. The next day we bussed it down to Sydney for the big game as newlyweds. It was absolutely amazing at the game and I was overcome with joy and started crying. It was noted by some that I didn’t cry during our ceremony the day before.

“We had made the big dance... but then I realised the honeymoon was in Fiji and we flew out last Tuesday. I still tried to get tickets but no way could I get any.

“On Friday morning I got a call from a good mate, he had won tickets and his wife said to offer one to me as she saw me crying on socials after Sunday’s win over Penrith.

“I got straight onto the internet to book flights and this Sunday I’m coming in hot for a hit and run mission to take the Premiership fresh from fiji.

“My partner is thrilled with her big spa day I have now booked at our hotel and is completely understanding of the years of pain I have endured through thick and thin with the Knights as a member.”

Sam isn’t leaving Sophie totally alone on the honeymoon.

“Win lose or draw, I’m jumping back on a plane on Monday for the last four days with her,” he said.

Now THAT is dedication.
