Paul Gallen is free to play in Friday's Test against New Zealand after being cleared of an elbow to the head of Kangaroos teammate Josh McGuire in Cronulla's NRL win over Brisbane.

While Gallen escaped sanction from the NRL match review committee on Monday, Sharks teammate Jayson Bukuya was hit with a 79th minute grade one shoulder charge on Broncos halfback Ben Hunt.

He faces two games on the sidelines unless he fights the charge and loses.

Kiwis and Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson is also free to play against the Kangaroos in Newcastle despite copping a grade one tripping charge on St George Illawarra hooker Mitch Rein.

A 75-point guilty plea will see Johnson appear against Australia.

Meanwhile Newcastle forward Korbin Sims could miss Fiji's Pacific Test against Papua New Guinea on Saturday night in Parramatta after being pinged with a grade-two careless high tackle on Sydney Roosters winger Joe Burgess.

Sims will miss one match even if he pleads guilty to the charge, however if he elects to fight it and fails, he will still only miss the one game.
