Former Sydney Roosters player Paul Carter pleads guilty to supplying ex-teammate Shaun Kenny Dowall with cocaine

Former Sydney Roosters NRL player Paul James Carter has pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine at a Sydney nightclub.

Carter, 25, had been accused of supplying a small quantity of the drug to ex-teammate Shaun Kenny-Dowall at the Ivy nightclub in the early hours of May 5.

He previously pleaded not guilty to one charge of supplying a prohibited drug, but at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday it emerged he had changed his plea to guilty.

His matter has been adjourned for sentence on November 29.

Kenny-Dowall, who now plays for the Newcastle Knights, was previously spared a conviction after he pleaded guilty to possessing .29 of a gram of cocaine at the nightclub.

At Kenny-Dowall's June sentencing Magistrate Greg Grogin said the player had suffered a huge amount of "collateral damage" after his arrest, with his Roosters contract terminated and his NRL registration revoked.

Mr Grogin placed Kenny-Dowall, 29, on a 12-month good behaviour bond and didn't record a conviction.
