Farah a chance to miss Storm clash

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah could miss Monday's clash with Melbourne amid reports the distraught hooker is no guarantee of returning to training on Friday.

The 30-year-old was given a leave pass by coach Mick Potter to skip Wednesday's training session to clear his head as the fallout continues over his alleged comments to former player and commentator Gorden Tallis that he believed the Tiger's mentor could not coach.And while Farah's manager Sam Ayoub is adamant he will see out his career at the club, he is no certainty of coming back to training this week, which would cast doubt over his place in the side for the Storm clash, according to The Daily Telegraph.Farah is understood to by furious over the handling of the Potter situation, believing he has been hung out to dry by the club following months of speculation that the coach did not have the support of senior players.The NSW State of Origin star feels there has been an internal campaign from management to paint him as the architect of plans to axe Potter.The Sydney Morning Herald reported that it was Ayoub who instigated Farah's sabbatical, calling Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer on Tuesday to tell him the 30-year-old was not coming in. The Tigers tried to stage-manage the fallout with Potter saying, via a statement: "I was more than happy for Robbie to have today off training considering the circumstances. He will return later in the week." Ayoub insists Farah has no intention of walking out on the club, despite reports on the weekend that he had sought a release."It’s like anyone taking a day of work because they don’t feel well," Ayoub told The Daily Telegraph."Robbie is feeling mentally and physically unwell after the stress of the past few days. He’s come down with a bit of the flu and I emailed the club on Tuesday night to inform them he was not feeling well enough to attend training on Wednesday."He’s since improved, and my hunch is that he will return (Friday) and then play on Monday night. But I can’t say for sure."Farah has not been sighted since the Tigers loss to St George Illawarra on Sunday as his anger boiled over following Tallis' revelation on radio that the skipper had told him 15 months ago that he did not rate Potter as a coach.He is also bitter the club edited out his comments from a press release issued from Sunday's post-match press conference where he supported Potter.Farah initially responded with high emotion to Sunday’s events, telling Ayoub and other close friends that he wants out of Concord.But Ayoub insisted those comments were simply a reaction, and stressed Farah would not be seeking a release from the final three years of his current contract."I can categorically state that Robbie will not be going anywhere," Ayoub told The Daily Telegraph.Meanwhile, Farah's teammates have backed him to bounce back."There was a few texts saying he was copping it and felt like he had a target on his head," Dene Halatau said."He’s been through some tough times before and hopefully he gets through this. I know he holds things pretty hard."He also loves competing and being a football player, and that overrides everything."Backrower Adam Blair also predicted Farah would recover."I haven’t seen Robbie," Blair said. "I thought he played well for us on Sunday. "He did a lot of work around the middle there. He has been around long enough to know what he can do. He understands what it takes to turn up here and try hard."
