Eels set to avoid points deduction

Parramatta are reportedly set to avoid being slugged with a four-point deduction with the club expected to meet the NRL's list of corporate governance requests ahead of Monday's deadline.

The code's ruling body ordered the Eels to make certain constitutional change following a review into how the club was being run by Price WaterhouseCoopers and threatened with points being docked unless they complied.

The club have also been under a separate investigation over third party deals concerning former superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne and representative back-rower Anthony Watmough but Fairfax Media reports a fine will be imposed rather than a points sanction.

The report said lawyers for Parramatta are finalising the document and a report will be sent to the NRL to be rubber stamped ahead of Thursday's season opener against Brisbane at Pirtek Stadium.
