Club captain Api Koroisau re-commits to besieged Wests Tigers
Star hooker Api Koroisau has committed his future to the besieged Wests Tigers.
The club captain has had a difficult first season with the joint venture club, with wins hard to come by and a broken jaw sidelining him for a lengthy period.
However, he has shown faith in the Tigers' vision for the future, signing on to stay for the start of the Benji Marshall era, with the 2005 premiership legend set to take the reins from Tim Sheens at the end of next season.
Koroisau's initial deal with the Tigers was a two-year contract with a mutual option, giving him an out at the end of next season if the option wasn't triggered.

However, that uncertainty has been taken out of the equation after Koroisau agreed to extend his deal until the end of the 2026 season.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to further demonstrate my commitment to the club," Koroisau said in a club statement announcing the deal.
"I'm also excited to be working with the young talent we have coming through and helping them to become great NRL players."
Coach Tim Sheens added that Koroisau's signing was a boost for the club, coming just a day after it was confirmed the Tigers had won the battle for the signatures of promising brothers, Latu and Samuela Fainu.
"He is a great leader and he has done a wonderful job this season," Sheens said.

Koroisau will lead out the Tigers when they face the St George Illawarra Dragons for a potential wooden spoon deciding Thursday night clash to kick off round 21.
The Tigers currently sit at the bottom of the ladder with 12 points, one win adrift of the Dragons.
