Graham faces anxious wait over kicking claim

Canterbury captain James Graham is facing a nervous wait after being put on report for lashing out at fellow Englishman Sam Burgess with his boot during his sides 28-10 loss to South Sydney on Friday night.

Graham, who’s Bulldogs will contest an elimination final next weekend, didn’t make contact after extending his leg in Burgess’ direction in the 53rd minute.

The incident came after Burgess was the third man in on a tackle on Graham. Burgess responded to the attempted kick by going after Graham before match officials moved in to diffuse the situation.

Burgess’ tackle was similar to the incident which saw Penrith’s Reagan Campbell-Gillard suffer broken bones in his back during the Panthers’ clash with Gold Coast last weekend.

After the game, Graham was circumspect when asked if he and Burgess were on good terms. The question came after Graham was seen to largely ignore Burgess in the post-game handshakes.

‘’It is what it is, isn’t it? No hard feelings,’’ he said.

Fellow Bulldogs forward David Klemmer may also come under scrutiny from the judiciary after being penalised for a shoulder charge inside the final 10 minutes.
