The Mole: Potential Cameron Munster pay cut at Storm opens door for Dolphins to lure marquee man

Storm superstar Cameron Munster is facing a massive dilemma worth nearly $2 million as he weighs up his future in the game.

Munster comes off contract with Melbourne at the end of next season and the club is believed to be offering him around $750,000 a season to sign a new deal - less than he is currently on.

But the Dolphins, desperate for a marquee player to head up their new franchise, are believed to be preparing a deal worth up to $1.2 million a year.

Over a four year term, that means the 27-year-old pivot will be sacrificing around $1.8 million to stay with the Storm.

The Dolphins have already signed three Storm forwards - the Bromwich brothers, Jesse and Kenny, and Queensland Origin back-rower Felise Kaufusi.

But they see Munster as the jewel in the crown and want to make him their main man - a player who will entice other quality individuals to also make the move to Redcliffe.

The Storm are just as keen to keep their star playmaker, particularly after losing a host of big names over the past 12 months.

"We have had informal chats and Cameron has indicated that he would like to stay with us," Storm recruitment manager Paul Bunn told Wide World of Sports.

"But we know his manager (former Blues Origin star Braith Anasta ) is hunting other clubs.

"We will just have to see how it plays out."
