Bozo to decide if he's on board: Manly CEO

Manly chief executive Tim Cleary says he's looking to implement administrative reform at the NRL club even with possible resistance from head of football Bob Fulton.

Cleary reportedly put Fulton, a club great and rugby league immortal, off-side by shifting his daughter Kristie's role at the club away from the football department.

Cleary, who replaced Joe Kelly as club boss at the end of last year, said his efforts in seeking the authority to make further changes at the club had reached an "impasse".

"As part of my plan to get to where I'm going, I need to put my team in place," Cleary told Fairfax Media.

"I hope that people would gauge that I am trying to strengthen the governance of the club for years to come."

Cleary, an educator by trade, stopped short of saying he could no longer work with Fulton.

Nor did he confirm the former Kangaroos five-eighth was at the centre of the resistance.

But Cleary suggested the ball was in Fulton's court to decide if he was on board with the proposed new direction.

"I'm not putting a line in the sand saying it's me or him," Cleary said.

"If I can modernise the place and work practices - and whether Bob is a part of that - he will determine that, not me."
