'I had a quick discussion': Shane Flanagan responds to Manly coaching whispers
Shane Flanagan says he's yet to sign with Manly as an assistant coach and has only "had a quick discussion" with the man poised to take control of the embattled club.
As the Sea Eagles prepare to unveil former Rabbitohs and Broncos coach Anthony Seibold as Des Hasler's replacement, Flanagan and Jim Dymock have been linked to assistant roles at Manly.
Flanagan was quizzed on the whispers from England, where he is as a coaching consultant for Papua New Guinea at the Rugby League World Cup.

"Nothing's happened. To be really honest, there has been a lot of speculation about it, but nothing has happened there. I had a quick discussion with the coach (Seibold), but that was about all," Flanagan said on Wide World of Sports' 2GB radio.
"I'll just wait until I've finished my commitments here (at the World Cup) with PNG.
"I haven't heard anything.
"I'm really happy with my job at the Dragons (as a list management consultant).
"I'll just wait and see what happens.
"Manly has a lot of things to sort out, but nothing's happened there in relation me."
Flanagan was an assistant to Paul McGregor at the Dragons, but the 2016 Sharks premiership-winning coach hasn't held any other coaching roles in the NRL since resigning from Cronulla in January 2019.
Seibold was an assistant during Trent Barrett's reign as Manly coach.
He collected the 2018 Dally M coach of the year award after steering the Rabbitohs to a preliminary final in his only season at South Sydney.
But what followed was a poisonous two-year stint at the Broncos that culminated in his axing.
"I think he is hoping that he does get the job (at Manly)," Flanagan said of Seibold.
"He's just finding out who's available (and) what's the best mix for him in relation to assistant coaches and staff next year.
"But I don't think anything has been confirmed as of yet ... it's not hard to do those negotiations when you're in England, but there's definitely nothing (that's) happened.
"I'll just let Manly sort their end out first, and then I'll worry about the best thing for me post this World Cup."
