Nick Kyrgios helps sick fan

Powered by

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has shown a compassionate side we seldom see on the tennis court.

The world No.17 was competing at an ATP event in Tokyo on a hot and sticky day, when he noticed medical staff attending to a sick fan in the stands during the first set of his round one clash with American Ryan Harrison.

The 21-year-old decided to take action and signalled to the crowd to offer a bottle of water to the distressed spectator.

Kyrgios then got off his seat during a change of end and jogged over to the grandstand behind the baseline and passed on the bottled water.

As he walked back to his seat, the somewhat dumbfounded Kyrgios received a warm round of applause from the local crowd.

He went on to beat Harrison in straight sets to set up a second round clash with Radek Stepanek.
