NHL player a weapon of mass destruction

A US National Hockey League player has become a weapon of mass destruction after he demolished a range of everyday items in a new advertisement.

Tampa Bay Lightning centre Steven Stamkos, whose slapshot can reach speeds of 170km/h, took aim at a range of items including watermelons, plates, a television and even a bubble gum machine in a new commercial for team sponsor Bauer.

In the footage, the 24-year-old Stamkos shots puck after puck from the ice, destroying everything that is put in his crosshairs.

None of the items are left unscathed; plates are obliterated, watermelons are reduced to pulp and gumballs are sent flying when Stamkos shatters the machine.

But Stamkos’ final challenge, a fish tank full of water, cause his some hesitation, the former number one draft saying “this is all or nothing” before cracking a puck straight through the middle of the glass.
