Vixens wary of Giants netball attack

Melbourne Vixens are wary of the accuracy and variety of the Giants attack, as the Super Netball minor premiers battle to win a grand final spot.

Vixens lost their home major semi-final to Sunshine Coast Lightning by one goal and will host Saturday's preliminary final at Hisense Arena.

They face a Giants outfit that won their minor semi against Collingwood by the same slim margin.

Vixens and Giants split their regular season encounters, with the home team coming out on top both times.

Giants coach Julie Fitzgerald has shifted her attack end around in recent weeks.

Diamonds shooter Susan Pettitt has sometimes been shifted to wing attack during the course of games, with emerging talent Kristina Brice coming off the bench to partner England international Jo Harten in the circle.

Last week Fitzgerald went with that formation from the start and stuck with it for the entire game.

"They (Giants) are just deadly accurate in terms of their shooting, so for us we've really got to defensively try and lock that down and stifle their attacking flow," Vixens and Diamonds' defender Jo Weston told AAP.

"We're very aware of how accurate - and the variety the Giants can have in their attacking end.

"For us it's about trying to be proactive and really having that attacking mindset."

Weston reported no injury issues for the Vixens, who were the first team this year to beat the Giants.

But Melbourne's most recent loss was in the return fixture in Canberra in round 12.

"We just made too many basic skill errors in that game and defensively not adjusting to what sort of attacking plays they were running," Weston said.

"They were very good at separating us a defensive unit, and that's something we've had a look at."

The winner on Saturday will play the Lightning in Brisbane on June 17.
