Netball Australia is investigating an allegedly anti-trans social media post by Swifts star Sam Wallace-Joseph.

The governing body was reportedly set to meet with the goal shooter on Tuesday night.

Wallace-Joseph posted to her Instagram account a screenshot of a story about US president Joe Biden recognising March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility.

Biden's message was met with pushback in America, given this year it fell on Easter Sunday.

Wallace-Joseph posted the picture along with her own caption reading, "The disrespect is crazy, don't play with GOD".

In a join statement with the Swifts on Tuesday night, she backtracked.

"It was not my intention to upset and disrespect anybody and whilst I feel my post was taken out of context, I didn't say what I meant clearly," she said.

"I did not wish to cause any offence to members of the transgender community, and it is clear that I have and for that, I am sorry."

The Swifts said the "views expressed in the post are not shared by the club... (and we are) committed to ongoing education of issues of social importance and commentary".

Netball Australia confirmed it was investigating the post.

"Late yesterday the Suncorp Super Netball League became aware of a social media post by NSW Swifts player Samantha Wallace-Joseph which caused hurt to members of the transgender community," a statement said.

"Netball Australia and the Suncorp Super Netball League are committed to embracing diversity and ensuring the sport is welcoming and safe for everyone who wants to participate, including members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

"The Suncorp Super Netball League is closely working with the NSW Swifts in relation to the sport's code of conduct."

Wallace-Joseph, 30, is a Trinidad and Tobago international netballer and was the Swifts' leading goal scorer in 2021.

She has recently been sidelined with a serious knee issue.
