Mountain bikers risk life and limb on death-defying ride

Talk about living on the edge.

That's the only way to describe this death-defying ride by US mountain bikers Kyle Mears and Nate Hills as they edge perilously close to a 130m-high canyon drop in Utah.

Hitting the trails of the Gold Bar Rim, high above the Moab Valley, professional bikers Mears and Hills showed nerves of steel as they put their lives on the line with this vertigo-inducing ride.

Riding just centimetres from the edge of the ledge, the pair navigate their way around small shrubs and fault lines.

But the heart-stopping moment comes when they pump the pedals before jumping across a gap in the winding ledge.

Any miscalculation would have meant certain death, but the two madman make it look like child's play.

Hills filmed the daring ride with a camera mounted on his helmet before uploading the footage onto YouTube with this health warning: "Don't even think of falling left. Don't ride these lines in the wind."

However, for any right-minded person the best thought would be: "Don't ride these lines at all unless you have a death wish".

Either way, the footage makes for spectacular viewing.
