A mountain bike rider has defied dizzying heights and sheer drops to conquer the 992-metre craggy face of the Isles of Skye’s Cuillin Ridge.

Scottish rider Danny MacAskill has taken on the famous landscape of his homeland in a new seven-minute film called ‘The Ridge’.

In the video, MacAskill begins the perilous journey wondering if his two wheeled steed can traverse the jagged, teeth-like ridge, before riding through the unique landscape of its lowlands.

As MacAskill rides higher up the ridge, the terrain turns from sweeping grasslands into a dangerous environment of high cliffs and jutting peaks.

Despite being forced at times to de-saddle due to the steep slopes, the 28-year-old shows no fear amongst the clouds, jumping from boulder to boulder with nerve jangling drops on either side.

However, the most memorable shot of the video is MacAskill standing high on a solitary escarpment peering out over the range before starting his descent and safely arriving back on firm ground.
