Miami baseballer's broken bat hits teammate

Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton's swings the bat as hard as anyone, but it delivered more pain than gain for his team during a Major League Baseball clash with Tampa Bay.

Stanton was at the plate in the fouth inning attempting to hit a line drive when his bat shattered and the barrel flew toward Marlins teammate Casey McGhee who was warming up behind him.

Watch carefully in this video as a huge splinter flies backward and strikes McGhee in the midsection in what could have been a match-ending incident.

Fortunately the Marlins third baseman escaped with only a bruise and was able to continue with Miami edging out the Rays 1-0.
