Man mountain Bhullar makes NBA history
Sim Bhullar has inked a contract with the Sacramento Kings to become the first player of Indian descent to sign for an NBA team.
Bhullar, who was born in Toronto, was a member of the Kings squad that captured the 2014 NBA Summer League title in Las Vegas.
He stands at a whopping 226 centimetres, which is 7'5" in the old scale, making him one of the true giants of the game.
Bhullar played for two seasons at New Mexico State University.
He averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, one assist and 2.9 blocks.
The 21-year-old was a two-time Western Athletic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.
While he can clerly play, it was his sheer size that first demanded attention.
So big is Bhullar that he often has to do interviews sitting on a chair.
The Kings are now also owned by an Indian, Vivek Ranadive.
Since taking ownership, Ranadive has focused on building the Kings and NBA brand in India.
After recruiting Bhullar, Ranadive said "India is the next great frontier for the NBA".
He's adamant Bhullar will be "one of many that will emerge from that region".
