Supercars rookie Macauley Jones crashes out of practice in Adelaide
Supercars rookie Macauley Jones has walked away from a horror crash during Practice at the Superloop Adelaide 500.
Jones unfortunately followed Penrite racing’s Anton de Pasquale’s example after he crashed out of qualifying on Saturday night, and added his own collision to the growing list of casualties in Adelaide.
The 24-year-old suffered a confirmed brake failure at the tail end of Saturday morning’s practice that sent him hurtling into a barrier at more than 200km/h.
The accident is expected to see Jones sidelined for the rest of the day’s action but his father Brad was just thankful his son could walk away from the wreckage unscathed.

“He’s had a brake failure,” Jones told Fox Sports. “The front brakes initially started to work and the pedal has gone to the floor. He is okay but I can’t quite say the same thing about the car. There is a lot of work to be done to get it sorted.
“Looking at how hard that thing hit, I would be surprised if we can do anything with it, but we will see what happens.
“I’m pretty devastated for Macca, he has done a great job so far and has not put a foot wrong and it’s not the way you want to start your first race.”
Elsewhere, Scott McLaughlin topped the sheets ahead of two-time defending champion Shane van Gisenberg.
