Lightning fast hare steals show at gridiron game

A pitch-invading hare at a Canadian gridiron game has stolen the show with an amazing touchdown celebration.

The CFL’s Labour Day Classic between the Eskimos and Stampeders was into the second quarter when a kickoff return was overshadowed by the hare sprinting onto the field.

Confused commentators struggled to choose between reporting on the current play or the dazzling speed of the creature which easily outpaced the play as it ran towards the end zone.

Footage shows the hare jump into the air in an amazing acrobatic flip after entering the end zone as if it had just scored a touchdown.

"The jack rabbit scores. It does a little dance in the end zone back there, I mean sign him up," says one of the thrilled commentators.

Gridiron's newest and tiniest fan became the highlight of the match on social media with the hashtag #LabourDayBunny quickly starting to trend in Canada.
