Suspected wrist fracture for Andrew Adkins

Seven months after breaking multiple bones in a race fall, Andrew Adkins has been dealt another blow, suffering a suspected fractured wrist.

This time the injury happened away from the track when the jockey slipped down some stairs while putting out his rubbish bins.

"I was trying to do the right thing and take the rubbish out," Adkins said.

"I fell down some stairs and it looks like I have fractured my scaphoid bone in my wrist.

"Hopefully all my bad luck will be over now."

Adkins misses the Festival Stakes meeting at Rosehill on Saturday and will have further X-rays next week to confirm the severity of the damage.

If a fracture is found he is likely to be out of the saddle for several weeks.

Adkins has been riding in good form and earlier this month won the $1 million Golden Gift aboard the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Dame Giselle.
