Middle draw for Hartnell in Kennedy Mile

Grand galloper Hartnell has drawn a middle barrier for the Group One Kennedy Mile in which he has top weight of 59kg in a capacity field of 16 plus four emergencies.

Eight-year-old Hartnell has barrier nine for Saturday's $1 million handicap but will come in one gate if his stablemate and first emergency Best Of Days (barrier one) does not gain a start.

Toorak Handicap winner Land Of Plenty has drawn beside Hartnell in eight.

The 2016 winner Le Romain has gate seven while Tom Melbourne, runner-up in the race a year ago, has drawn widest in 20.
