Melbourne Cup 2025 order of entry: Potential field dwindles down as trainer Chris Waller primed for major tilt
Updated . First published
There are just 37 runners remaining in contention for this year's Lexus Melbourne Cup, with five horses now installed at single-figure odds.
With less than a week until the time-honoured 3200m event, Caulfield Cup winner Half Yours remains the outright favourite with bookmakers.
However, there are a stack of rivals not far behind including overseas raider Al Riffa and the Chris Waller-trained Buckaroo, who ran second in the Cox Plate last weekend in a nail-biting finish with superstar stablemate Via Sistina.

Waller now has two runners near the top of the market, with Valiant King also looking to back up from a strong Caulfield Cup performance and carry it into Flemington.
He also has another six runners still a chance of getting a run in the race.
Here's the updated order of entry for the 2025 Melbourne Cup as of October 30.
