I won't give up on my NFL dream: Hayne

Jarryd Hayne says he has no intention of giving up on his NFL dream and returning home to the NRL, insisting that he is determined to fight his way back onto San Francisco's playing roster.

Demoted to the 49ers practice roster after a handful of games, Hayne admits he is out of his comfort zone, but is relishing the challenge.

The 27-year-old's predicament has sparked rampant speculation he will return to the NRL, with the Sydney Roosters tipped as his likely destination.

But the former Eels star says he won't be throwing in the towel.

"This talk of me coming home? I'm not giving up because this whole thing has got hard," he told News Limited.

"I'm going to keep learning, keep growing ... then get there."

Hayne said the constant rumours of his NRL return were way off the mark.

"There hasn’t once been a thought about returning to the NRL. Being uncomfortable, I like it," he said.

Far from being dissuaded by his demotion, Hayne can only see the positives and says it has been vital for his NFL education.

The former Kangaroos and NSW Origin star, says he always anticipated a rocky ride in his code switch.   

"The whole point of coming here was to fight through days like I’m in now,"’ Hayne said.

"And I know that if I can come this far in 12 months, by 24 months ... the difference is going to be like day and night.

"I know that. I can see it. And people around me, they may not be able to see it. But I do.

"And that's why I’m staying ... I know how much better I’m going to get."
