Hammer throw goes horribly wrong

The Olympics in Rio are just weeks away and one hammer-thrower has made a late charge at shining on the biggest stage of all.

Details are scant around a video recently posted to Instagram by New Zealand champion  shot-putter Valerie Adams but one thing that is certain is that the official in question won't be forgetting it for a long time.

Why you'd stand mere metres away, not paying attention, from someone preparing to spin around a few times and release a seven-kilogram metal ball into the world is anyone's guess, but that is exactly the decision taken by our hapless hero.
