Cameron Smith falls short of Australian Open's second cut after night on the beers
Cameron Smith can get back on the beers after failing to make the Australian Open's second cut at Victoria Golf Club on Saturday.
The world No.3 switched from the beers to the waters at the Moonee Valley races on Friday night after learning he had made the halfway cut after thinking he had fallen short.
What followed was a one-under-par 69 in the third round which left him floundering in 52nd spot when he completed his scorecard.

Only the top 30 players and ties advance to Sunday's competition.
At the completion of the third round, Adam Scott is leading the field with 201, 11 under par, and Adrian Meronk is trailing by one stroke.
Minwoo Lee is sitting in third with 205.
"I wasn't really expecting it," Smith said of his qualification for the halfway cut.
"I was pretty quick to the pub and I was probably a few too many beers deep and then realised we had an early tee time, so I got back on the waters and was a good boy for the rest of the night."
Smith's lacklustre end to his 2022 campaign followed four victories in an incredible year.
The Queenslander won the PGA Tour's Sentry Tournament of Champions, the Players Championship, the British Open and last week's Australian PGA Championship.

"I thought I had it in me today and hit lots of good golf shots, but couldn't really capitalise," Smith said.
"I hit good putts, too, but they weren't going in.
"It just wasn't my week.
"I thought it would take three or four under and the strategy didn't change at all; just go out and play some really good golf. I thought I played solid enough.
"Just not enough putts went in."
