The goal that apparently wasn't a goal

When is a goal not a goal? When it goes straight through the net if this footage is anything to go by. That’s when.

It all start simply enough – a player takes a spot kick, beats the keeper and keeps it inside the post.

Then confusion takes over as the ball goes straight through the corner of the net and hit the back wall.

From where it ends up it appears the shot went wide. No chance of that being the case if you’d actually kept an eye on that white thing as it flew through the air.

The referee obviously didn’t, because after much consternation he decreed the ball had missed and goal kick would restart play.

Talk about bad luck.
