'Bleeding a lot': Horror clash with teammate stops game as Villa storm to sixth on Premier League standings

Bournemouth defender Adam Smith suffered concussion in a horror collision with teammate Tyler Adams on Monday (AEDT) during a Premier League game.
Smith and Adams clashed early in the match against Aston Villa and both players required medical treatment during a lengthy delay in Birmingham.
Smith had to be substituted, while United States international Adams was able to continue in Bournemouth's 4-0 defeat at Villa Park.

"Now he looks OK, he's fine and he remembers everything. But in the moment I think it was a very hard knock," Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said.
"And the doctor straight away, it was bleeding a lot. But it was not about the blood, it was about the concussion and it was obviously the decision to make to sub him."
It was a second loss in a row for Bournemouth, who were up to second in the standings earlier this season.

But Iraola refused to blame the injury to Smith for the latest defeat.
"We had to make a sub, but we cannot use this as an excuse. They were much better than us, more aggressive, pressing us well and deservedly went 2-0 up at halftime," he said.
Villa are now sixth after an excellent all-round performance.
Emiliano Buendia netted a superb free kick to give the hosts the lead and they doubled their advantage before halftime with Morgan Rogers playing in Amadou Onana to score.
Antoine Semenyo had a penalty saved by Emiliano Martinez as Bournemouth improved after the break but when substitute Ross Barkley headed Villa's third, the points were safe.
Donyell Malen, also off the bench, turned in a shot by Youri Tielemans to complete the rout late on as Villa joined four other teams - including Bournemouth and Liverpool - on 18 points from 11 matches.
