Jackman attempting to buy football team in competition with Hollywood buddy
Hugh Jackman is in talks to become the next Hollywood star to own a football team, in a move that could see one of his infamous faux rivalries reach a new level.
Jackman has revealed he is looking into buying shares in English Championship club Norwich City, a team he has supported since he was young as it is his mother’s birthplace.

But purchasing a stake in a team he has long-loved would put him in direct competition with great mate Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham this season.
“I’m very, very interested in talking about it right now,” he told TalkSport.
“You’re the first one to know that. Good on Ryan, you do your thing, I’m all about the Canaries.”
It is not the first time that the opportunity has been presented to Jackman, with the club last in talks with him purchasing a stake in the team back in 2010.
At the time, Jackman opted against purchasing a stake - a decision he regrets.
The rivalry between Reynolds and Jackman will undoubtedly grow if the latter is to buy a stake in Norwich, who have a more distinguished history in the competition.
Reynolds is a co-owner of Wrexham along with actor Rob Mac, purchasing the club in 2021 for roughly $3.9 million AUD. The club is now worth approximately $657m.
As it currently stands, Wrexham are higher on the table after four games, with one win, two draws and a loss. Norwich have won just one of their four games.
“I think it’s an exciting team, and it’s going to be an exciting year,” Jackman added.
Jackman has bought a slice of a sports team previously, owning a stake in Australia’s SailGP team, the Bonds Flying Roos, along with Reynolds.
Norwich will host Wrexham on December 6 (AEST).
