'What timing': Ange Postecoglou walks into interview as Spurs manager is sacked

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with coach Thomas Frank after just eight months in charge.
Frank only survived a couple of hours following the club's latest loss to Newcastle United before the club swung the axe on his tenure, with Spurs currently sat just five points outside the relegation zone.
Frank joined the club shortly after they parted ways with Australian manager Ange Postecoglou, who had just led the club to their first major trophy in 17 years.

Danish manager Frank has had a troubled run with the team on English soil, frequently being booed off by Spurs supporters alongside his playing group after each game.
Most recently against Newcastle, he left the field to chants of 'you're being sacked in the morning' from Tottenham's supporter base.

The board cited the club's recent results as the reason for Frank's dismissal.
"We have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together," the club said in a statement.
"However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward.
"We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success."
The statement came just hours after Frank told media that he was not worried that his job was under threat, revealing he had positive talks with the club's owners a day prior.
"I understand the question and I understand it's easy to point on me," the former Brentford boss told media when asked about his future at Spurs.
"But I also think it's never only the head coach or the ownership or the directors or the players or the staff. It's everyone. How convinced am I that I am the right man for the job? 1000 per cent sure. I never expected us to be in a situation like this.
"You need to have a calm head and carry on I understand the mechanism in football [to axe the manager] – no doubt about that – but there are a lot of studies that [prove] it is not the right thing to do. I will work day and night to turn this around.
"There is no doubt we need to improve and I need to be part of that."
In his short time in charge, Frank did manage to get the side to fourth in the Champions League. However, he struggled to find success with the team in the Premier League.
It is unclear who will take over the top job at Spurs, but fans have made it clear they would be open to the return of former boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Since Pochettino departed the club in 2019, five coaches have been appointed at Spurs.
A chant of the Argentine's name echoed around the stadium against Newcastle.
Tottenham will host ladder-leaders and cross-city rivals Arsenal on Monday (AEDT).
