'What kind of country is this?': Japan coach's hilarious dig at Aussie nightlife after Asian Cup triumph
After breaking the hearts of Australians, Japan coach Nils Nielsen had a final jab for Sydney, playfully claiming there's nowhere to go out after winning the Asian Cup.
Nielsen masterminded his second title for Japan with a 1-0 victory at Accor Stadium after taking over the nation in 2024.
The coach gave an insight into his personality in the lead-up to the final when he was asked who the favourite was.

"It's like asking a bee to explain to a fly why honey is better than shit," he said.
Nielsen, on the back of a victory, kept to his jovial self when asked what he and the team would do to celebrate before flying back to Japan.

"Here in Australia, it is such a strange country, you know?," he replied after saying his side has an early flight on Sunday.
"If the clock is more than 11, you can't buy a beer. What kind of country is this?
"Perhaps the only annoying thing about Australia is you can't get a beer when you're a thirsty. How do you explain that?"
Nielsen's coaching pedigree has only been heightened with this achievement after winning the SheBelieves Cup in 2025.
He also finished European Championship runner-up with Denmark in 2017.
