Hayley Raso scores stunner on debut in dream start to Spurs' campaign

Matildas star Hayley Raso's magic boot has earned the praise of Tottenham fans as the Australian star produced a dream start to her England Women's Super League comeback.

Raso, who joined Spurs following a stop-start stint with Spanish giants Real Madrid, opened the scoring in the 19th minute to launch Spurs' 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The 30-year-old found space on the inside to weave into the right of the box before pivoting to strike the ball into the opposite corner.

"I feel like it was rolling slowly, so I just said 'please go in, please go in'," Raso said of the shot post-match.

"It was a really good team performance, everyone's happy to start off the season like that and to get a goal topped it all off for me."

Raso was denied a double just minutes before half time, recording a shot on target after being left unmarked almost 10 metres out only for the ball to be tipped away by Palace keeper Shae Yanez.

Jess Naz, Drew Spence and Olga Ahtinen rounded off Spurs' dominant victory with second half goals.

Raso's Matildas' teammate Clare Hunt also made her debut for the Lillywhites, while Charli Grant featured for a brief stint off the bench.

Playing for her third different WSL club, having previously played with Manchester City and Everton, Raso was named Spurs' player of the match.

"They've been lovely, super supportive," Raso said of her new teammates.

"Credit to the girls here, they've made the transition easy for us.

"We've gelled well preseason and I think we've showed that today. I've found my feet pretty quickly."
