MLS striker knocked out in sickening collision

A Japanese striker has been knocked out in sickening fashion after being hammered in a high-speed collision with a rival goalkeeper.

Vancouver Whitecaps' Masato Kudo tried to latch onto a long ball when he was put clear on goal early in the first half against MLS rivals Chicago Fire.

But the 26-year-old's game came to a shuddering halt when he was brutally collected by Fire goalkeeper Matt Lampson.

Lampson took out the former Japanese international in a ball and all tackle that left Kudo bloodied and unconscious on the ground.

But according to reports, Kudo, after a few minutes, regained his senses and was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed as suffering concussion.

Meanwhile, Lampson escaped punishment for the brutal hit but was unable to save his side from going down 2-1.
