Greece squad named for Socceroos dates

Greece have named an extended 31-man squad ahead of their two-match tour of Australia next month.

Coach Michael Skibbe has included star Dortmund defender and Greek captain Sokratis Papastathopoulos and highly-rated Benfica pair Kostas Mitroglou and Andreas Samaris in the initial squad.

Roma defender Vasilis Torosidis is the most senior player in the group.

The Euro 2004 champions missed qualification for this year's continental competition while managed by now-Leicester City coach Claudio Ranieri.

Greece have just one competitive win since being eliminated in the round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup.

They play the Socceroos in Sydney on June 4 and in Melbourne on June 7.
