Freiburg renew contract for coach Streich

Freiburg extended the contract of coach Christian Streich and his coaching team on Friday as they seek immediate promotion to the Bundesliga after relegation from the top flight last season.

The club gave no details of the new deal for 50-year-old Streich, who has been in charge at Freiburg since December 2011 and had a contract until the end of the current campaign.

Streich took Freiburg into the Europa League after finishing fifth in the 2012-2013 season but the team slipped to a relegation place on the last day of last season.

Freiburg are second in the second division and play at seventh-placed SV Sandhausen on Sunday.
