Basques Eibar, Sociedad win in La Liga
Sevilla have squandered a two-goal first-half lead to lose 3-2 at Eibar, missing a chance to go joint second in Spain's La Liga.
Sevilla were up 2-0 thanks to Lucas Ocampos and Oliver Torres until the 66th minute on Thursday, when Eibar's Fabian Orellana converted a penalty.
Pedro Leon equalised in the 77th after a blunder by Sevilla defenders and Jose Angel Valdes gave the hosts the win with a well-placed free-kick in the 82nd.
It was the first victory of the season for Basque minnows Eibar, who had entered the match second-last on the 20-team table with two points from five games but now sit 16th.
Sevilla could have moved within a point of leaders Real Madrid, but ended up dropping to seventh place after their second defeat in a row.
"We lost a game that was in our hands. We let it slip away," Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui said.
"We fell back in the second half. We were more concerned about defending than attacking. We paid the price in the end."
At Reale Arena, Mikel Oyarzabal struck twice as another Basque club in Real Sociedad thrashed Alaves 3-0 to go second and leave the visitors 17th.
Striker Mikel Oyarzabal broke the deadlock from close range after 19 minutes when he was brilliantly set up by Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard's inch-perfect through ball.
The hosts never looked back and doubled the lead when Willian Jose nodded home the second in the 32nd minute before Oyarzabal slotted home the third from the penalty spot five minutes before the break.
Celta Vigo salvaged a 1-1 home draw against Espanyol with a header by Santi Mina in the fifth and final minute of stoppage time.
The result left the Catalan club in the relegation zone with five points from six matches. Celta, winless in four league games, moved to 15th place with six points.
