Bayern focusing on Hanover before ECL

Bayern Munich face a crucial Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday but coach Pep Guardiola is refusing to treat Saturday's Bundesliga match with Hanover as a warm-up.

"The Bundesliga is first over when it is over, when we have the championship trophy. 33 points are many, many points," Guardiola told a news conference on Friday, referring to the 11 games remaining in the domestic league campaign.

Bayern currently lead second-placed Wolfsburg by eight points and anything other than a third successive title would be a major surprise.

In contrast progression beyond the Champions League last 16 is not guaranteed on Wednesday after a credible, though far from decisive, goalless first leg draw in Ukraine.

But Guardiola, who regularly juggles his starting eleven to provide playing time across his star-filled squad, is not considering Shakhtar just yet.

"The defensive system of Hanover is completely different in comparison to Shakhtar," he said.

Bayern are still without long-term injury victims Philipp Lahm, Javi Martinez and Thiago as they continue their recovery but Medhi Benatia can return.
