EPL player charged with rape of 15-year-old girl

Details are still sketchy, but reports from the UK say a Premier League footballer has been charged with rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in France in 2012.

The 23-year-old cannot be named for legal reasons and is currently on bail awaiting trial according to the Telegraph in the UK.

The footballer and his cousin face 15-years in jail for the alleged attack at a campsite in Nimes. Both men deny the allegations.

The Telegraph reports, both men were on holiday at the time and its alleged the footballer initially denied having sex with the girl because he didn’t want upset his girlfriend.

Both men have admitted to having sex with the girl since, but claim they thought the girl was over the age of consent.
