Hall becomes first man to lift 500kg

Englishman Eddie Hall broke his own deadlift world record again over the weekend, this time becoming the first man to ever lift 500kg.

Even for the fourth-strongest man in the world, the giant effort came at a cost for the man known as ‘The Beast’, who says he almost died and suffered nose bleeds following the lift.

“That nearly killed me,” he said.

“It’s a very out-of-body experience when you do something like that.  But it feels really, really good.

“The pressure on my body was surreal.  I passed out after.  I had nose bleeds.

“It’s not healthy doing something like that.  But I’ve done it.  I’m sure it will be in the history books for a long time.”

Unsurprisingly, Hall said he is unlikely to attempt such a lift again, with the caveat that he may be enticed back for another attempt should someone break his record in the future.

The 28-year-old has been England’s strongest man every year since 2011 and will now focus on attempting to become the strongest in the world.

It looks like he’s well on the way.
