Australia's Kevin Chavez has won silver on the opening day of the FINA Gold Coast diving Grand Prix but couldn't stop a Chinese whitewash on Saturday.

Olympian Chavez finished second behind Jianfeng Peng as China claimed all four gold medals on day one of competition.

A week after winning Australia's first ever medal at the series - bronze in the springboard at the Malaysian Grand Prix - Chavez (423.85) ran runner up to Peng (490.90)
