Daredevils set new base-jump record

Two French daredevils have set a new base-jump world record after taking the plunge from the top of the world’s tallest building.

Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet jumped off Dubai’s Burj Khalifa skyscraper earlier this week and have just released dizzying footage of the feat, showing them spiraling toward earth.While they’re not the first to base-jump off the building, they had a special platform built to add more than 150 metres and take their starting point to a height of 828 metres.That’s almost three times higher than Australia’s tallest buildings, Gold Coast’s Q1 Tower (323m) and Melbourne’s Eureka Tower (297m)."This was the jump of a lifetime and an achievement of three years of hard training. I am glad we landed successfully, accomplishing a lifelong dream,” Fugen told the Daily Mail."This was my best jump by far. It was a dream come true,” Reffet added.While Guiness is yet to officially acknowledge the new world record for a base-jump off a building, the previous mark was set at the same building by Nasser Al Neyadi and Omar Alhegelan.Glenn Singleman and Heather Swan share the record for the highest ever base-jump after leaping from the Himalaya’s Mount Meru, which stands at 6603 metres.
