Cyclist adopts risky 'Superman' pose in bid to pick up speed

Powered by

In a great combination of science and courage, this cyclist has managed to overtake a group of fellow riders without even touching the pedals.

The footage from Spain shows a brave cyclist adopt a ''Superman'' pose which adds both speed and danger to his descent down a slight decline in the road.

With his wind resistance greatly reduced by his aerodynamic position, the other cyclists are passed with ease despite them all pedalling.

The major downside of such an approach is that things could go horribly wrong – and quickly.

The slightest bump in the road, or even something as simple as a slight loss of balance would see the rider hit the ground with great forces. Head first contact with the bitumen would be a distinct possibility.

Anyone wanting to risk trying this trick should consider themselves warned.
